This book discusses Fiqh (Islamic law). It includes the definition and scope of Islamic law, sources of Islamic law, Islamic legal principles, Islamic family law, inheritance and will law, Maqashid al-Syariah and distributive justice in Islamic economic law, Islamic constitutional law, Islamic law in Indonesia, compilation of Islamic law and religious courts in Indonesia.
Islamic law is a legal system with unique characteristics because it is rooted in divine revelation and develops through human intellectual activity. As a normative and religious system, Islamic law not only regulates the relationship between humans and God (ḥablmin Allāh), but also regulates relationships between human beings (ḥabl min al-nās) in various dimensions of life, including social, economic, political, and cultural (Hallaq, 2009). From the perspective of classical scholars, Islamic law is seen as the embodiment of God’s will, which aims to organize human life comprehensively and realize the welfare (Al-Syatibi, n.d.).
