We express our gratitude to God Almighty for the successful completion of this book, “Introduction to Studies: Theories and Models.” This book was compiled in an effort to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, theories, and models of communication that form the foundation of communication studies.

Communication is defined as the process of sending a message from a sender to a receiver through a specific medium. This process involves encoding the message by the sender and decoding it by the receiver to achieve a shared understanding (Amodu, 2006). Communication is not simply the delivery of information, but also involves two-way interaction with feedback that creates relationships between individuals or groups (Sanusi, 2013). In other words,communication is the process of exchanging meaning and ideas that can be verbal or non-verbal (Patrichi, 2013).
